Cynthia’s talk was about one of her current projects, writing a book of soup recipes. Consistent with many of Cynthis’s projects, this is not your ordinary collection of soup recipes. Cooking has always been a hobby of Cynthia’s. She often found that her ability to cook led her to a variety of jobs, including chef, short-order cook, and volunteer. Cynthia credited her ability to cook with helping her to be able to stay in San Diego when other employment was difficult to find. In addition to having many talents, Cynthia has done a fair amount of traveling and has lived in a lot of different places, such as Boston, Cape Cod, Texas, Greece, Turkey, and San Diego, to name a few. Over the years, given Cynthia’s love for cooking and meeting so many people, she started collecting soup recipes from people she met. Why? Because everyone seems to have a favorite soup recipe, and these recipes often tell a little about an individual’s heritage and life.
